Successful representation of a health professional at a regulatory hearing

2 September 2010

Our professional discipline & regulation team represented a client who is a registered healthcare professional. He is the subject of ongoing criminal proceedings and has also been referred to the regulatory body which governs his profession.

We have advised the client on the preparation of a detailed submission to the body’s preliminary committee, proposing that the regulator should await the outcome of the criminal case before making a decision in relation to our client’s registration status.

In addtion, our expert regulatory solicitors successfully represented the client at a hearing to consider whether an interim order suspending his registration was necessary. The team we able to obtain a conditional order, which allows the client to continue to practise subject to conditions which safely protect the public interest, rather than being made the subject of an order for complete suspension from practice.
