Expertise

Michael is recognised as one of the countries leading experts in education law, acting for parents, children and teachers' unions. He is the Wales & West convenor of the Education Law Association; a former teacher, and Deputy Chair of Governors of a local school. He has lectured and written on this emerging area of law and acted in high profile cases challenging Cardiff City Councils Welsh medium education policy, challenging rural school closures in Wales, pursuing large educational negligence claims, and acting for children with special needs.

Experience

In Personal Injury law, Michael has been involved in similarly high profile cases. He is currently coordinating the claims of steel workers killed or seriously injured in the terrible Port Talbot steelworks explosion of Nov 2001. Michael has lectured and written on specialist aspects of Personal Injury law such as travel law and sports injuries. He is secretary of APIL Wales, a member of the Law Society Personal Injury panel, ATLA, PEOPIL and the Travel & Tourism Lawyers Association. Michael is a member of the LSC Funding appeals committee and its National Education Law forum.

Career

Michael Imperato is managing partner of the Cardiff office of RJW which he opened in 1998. Since then the office has quadrupled in size. Michael qualified as a solicitor in 1990.

Education

Michael graduated from Reading University with a History degree.

Interests and hobbies

He lives in Cardiff and when not trying to keep up with his 2 young daughters enjoys sports and is active in local politics.
