Amanda Bearman is a solicitor in the Commercial Litigation Unit. Amanda joined Russell Jones & Walker as a trainee solicitor in 1998, having worked as a paralegal in the Commercial Litigation Department prior to commencing her training. She qualified in 2000.
Amanda has considerable experience in acting for Claimants and Defendants involved in commercial litigation, especially in matters involving emergency applications. She has particular expertise in relation to insurance disputes, including travel insurance, accident and illness policies and career ending injury policies for professional footballers. Her cases include successfully defending an action brought against a wife in relation to monies allegedly misappropriated by her husband, defending a civil claim alleging misappropriation of funds by an accountant during the course of his employment and successfully bringing a claim against a national insurer for career ending illness. Other cases have involved breach of contract, misrepresentation and Section 459 applications.
Amanda is also part of the Defamation team at Russell Jones & Walker, again acting for both Claimants and Defendants. She has acted on large-scale actions including against Granada Television and Channel 4. She has also represented individuals (including a football club manager) in the settling of disputes prior to the issue of proceedings.
Amanda is a member of the London Solicitors Litigation Association and the Young Fraud Lawyers Association. She is a contributor to Fraud: Law, Practice and Procedure, published by Lexis Nexis.
Amanda obtained an LLB degree in English and European Law from Essex University in 1996. As part of her degree, she spent one year studying in Denmark. She attended the College of Law in Chester to complete her Legal Practice Course.
