Race discrimination
Today's modern workplace is a reflection of our multi-cultural society. However, there appears to be little evidence of this in the boardrooms and upper ranks of most industries in the UK.
Discrimination on grounds of race is rendered unlawful by the Race Relations Act 1976, yet litigating a claim for race discrimination is not a practical reality for many senior executives. We have recently settled a race discrimination claim for a senior director at a major international bank for a significant six-figure sum. We understand that a financial result, swiftly achieved and smoothly negotiated, is the objective of clients who wish to move on. In many cases, we insist on absolute confidentiality as a term of settlement.
At Russell Jones & Walker, our specialist Discrimination Unit has extensive experience in dealing with race cases. We understand the sensitive and often distressing nature of these cases and work discreetly with our clients, keeping them fully informed every step of the way.
