Disability discrimination
The Government estimates that there are over 8 million disabled people in the UK. Figures suggest that 3,000 new claims a year alleging disability discrimination are being lodged and the numbers are increasing.
Although discrimination is common, many disabled people are not aware of the protection that they have through the law and their rights which have been established under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
Employer attitudes have started to change as a result of some high profile victories for disabled people, but these changes are slow. At Russell Jones & Walker we feel that there is a perception that disability discrimination is not viewed as seriously as perhaps race or sex discrimination. We aim to change this view.
We have experts on disability discrimination working across the UK in our London, Manchester and Cardiff offices. Our solicitors have been involved in cutting edge cases and have recovered millions of pounds in disability claims across a variety of different disabilities.

If you think you may have a claim for disability-related discrimination, all you need to do is fill in our online questionnaire and respond to some striaghtforward questions. Our solicitors will then assess your prospects of succeeding in a claim, and contact you with their opinion. The service is free and 100% confidential.
Under this free scheme, we review your completed disability discrimination questionnaire and on the basis of that limited information only, we provide a brief opinion on whether there appears to be merit in your case under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
Our opinion is provided for free and subject to this being without any assumption of any responsibility on our part.
Under the disability discrimination screening service we are only able to provide an opinion on a disability discrimination claim. The scheme does not cover other employment claims such as unfair dismissal, breach of contract or race or sex discrimination. However, if you would like advice on any of these issues, please contact us for further information.
Claims for disability discrimination relating to employment must normally be presented to an employment tribunal within 3 months of the act complained of. Claims for disability discrimination against public service providers must normally be lodged with the courts within six months of the act complained of.
Russell Jones & Walker accepts no liability in relation to any failure by you to present a claim to an employment tribunal or court in time.
