Education law
Russell Jones & Walker’s Education Law Department is based at our Cardiff office but serves clients throughout England and Wales.
It is recognised by the main independent legal directories as one of the leading Education Law Departments acting for parents and children. The Department is headed by Partner Michael Imperato who the legal directories regard as the leader in a field in this type of education law in Wales.
Michael is a National Executive Member of the Education Lawyers Association, he has lectured and written extensively on matters of education law. Michael is school Governor and a trustee of a National Charity for brain injured children (Cerebra).
Also in the Education Department is Carol Davies who has extensive expertise in acting for children with disabilities. Carol has undertaken many complex special needs Tribunal cases and she has also been commended on her expertise and commitment by legal directories. The Education Law Department also acts in respect of school admissions and exclusion cases. It is also led the way in respect of legal challenges to school closures.
The Department is one of only a handful in the country with a Legal Services Commission franchise in educational law which allows it to act for people on benefits and low income with the support of public funding. For those not eligible for legal aid, the Department offers a competitive and flexible fee structure.
For all enquiries please contact Michael Imperato or Carol Davies at our Cardiff office on 0292 026 2800, fax number 0292 0262828.
The Employment Law practice was recommended in the 2008 Edition of Chambers:
"Level-headed and responsible,” is how one peer described this firm. Almost all of the team’s cases are publicly funded and the work is challenging and varied."
