Expertise
Simon Allen is the Joint head of the national PI department, and Managing Partner of the Sheffield Office of Russell Jones & Walker. His specialisation is in claimant personal injury. He is involved specifically in accidents at work, Asbestos cases, multi-handed fume and VWF cases and post-traumatic stress cases. He ran the Hillsborough Police PTSD Litigation which was successful before the Court of Appeal in October 1996 and set new law in the House of Lords in 1998.
Career
Simon was a partner at Brian Thompson & Partners until joining Russell Jones & Walker in 1989 where he made partner in 1990. He set up the firm's national Occupational Disease Group, which is the first of its kind in the UK, to research and develop knowledge of such illnesses. He designed the firm’s systems for doing employment Liability cases.
Education
Simon was articled at Favell & Smith in Sheffield and qualified in 1985.

Professional Memberships
Simon is a member of APIL, American Trial Lawyers Association, and a member of Personal Injury Panel. He was appointed Assessor for the Personal Injury Panel in 2000 and is a member of the Law Society Committee which produced the Pre-Action Protocol and the Disease and Illness protocol for the Lord Chancellors' Department. He is a Local Contact Point for Headway and belongs to the Society of Labour Lawyers. He is also a regular lecturer.
