Julie Morris is a partner in the London office of the Employment department.
Experience
Julie has experience in all areas of employment law, with particular expertise in senior executive discrimination and equal pay claims, as well as collective consultation issues. Julie is also an expert in maternity issues, having advised on the Maternity Alliance helpline for 5 years. She advises a range of clients, particularly high profile city clients and those in the media sector.
Julie has achieved a number of six and seven figure settlements for clients, including significant and high profile whistleblowing claims, one against a major advertising company as well as a very high value claim against a City bank. She has also acted for a number of senior executives in sex discrimination and equal pay claims, including for a partner in a City law firm, several senior executives in Investment and High Street Banks and a senior director in the asset management field. She was the solicitor acting for Ms Sharp in her complex equal value case against Caledonia Investments Limited, where the Employment Appeal Tribunal agreed that employers do have to be able to properly and objectively justify any reasons put forward for a difference in pay, a significant step forward in equality law.
Career
Julie completed her articles at City firm, Ashurst Morris Crisp, qualified in 1999 and joined Russell Jones & Walker in 2001. She was made a partner in 2004
Education
Julie studied at Leeds University, followed by Nottingham Law School.
Professional Memberships
Julie is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association pro bono committee, and was its former Chair. She is also a member on the Employment Lawyers Association Training Committee and lectures on its behalf.
