Dominican Republic hotel holiday sickness compensation

09 August 2007

Have you been affected by the outbreak affecting many holiday makers at the Bahia Principe Hotel in San Juan, Dominican Republic?

An unconfirmed number of holiday makers have been taken seriously ill with stomach upsets, diarrhoea and vomiting, many of which have been hospitalised due to the severity of their injuries. The reports from holidaymakers suggest that guests are still being affected by illness and that they are furious at the way the way the main Tour Operators are dealing with their complaints.

At present a hygiene expert is to investigate the cause of the outbreak given the extent of those suffering with vomiting and diarrhoea many of which have been treated in hospital. The Federation of Tour Operators has also been asked to investigate the cause.

We can help

If you have been affected we can assist. Holiday makers seeking compensation have the benefit of protection under Package Travel Regulations 1992. These regulations entitle people who suffered from sickness and ruined holidays to claim for compensation against the tour operator in the UK, under UK law.

We at Russell Jones & Walker have set up a dedicated team of specialist lawyers to deal with the surge of holiday makers having been affected by the outbreak. The team is headed by Michelle Victor, Senior Solicitor at Russell Jones & Walker who has extensive experience dealing with multi party food poisoning actions. She previously represented over 20 Claimants suffering salmonella poisoning following the consumption of food at A1 Kebabish which was recently in the news and recovered, in some instances, substantial damages for her clients.

We are currently conducting a group action on behalf of those people who have been affected by the recent Dominican Republic hotel food poisoning scare.  Many of these cases are on a no win no fee basis and all holiday makers will receive 100% of their compensation.
