06 July 2006
Evening Conference and Reception: Thursday 6 July 2006, 5pm for 5.30 start
The Institute of Child Health, 30 Guilford Street, London, WC1N 1EH
Russell Jones & Walker held an evening conference and reception on Equal Pay on Thursday 6 July.
The conference focused on equal pay issues in light of the Fawcett Society’s recent report Gender Equality in the 21st Century: modernising the legislation which highlights the issues of the gender pay gap in the workplace.
Attendees were representatives from leading general interest and women’s organisations, trade unions and the media.
The conference was addressed by Kate Bellamy, Senior Policy Officer (read her presentation in full) and co-author of the report at the Fawcett Society, along with Sue Hastings, an independent pay and employment advisor (read her presentation in full), who has practical experience of introducing new pay structures and evaluations within public and private sector organisations. Senior practitioners from Russell Jones & Walker discussed the legal issues surrounding equal pay, including the impact of current test cases, and recommendations for changes to tackle the gender pay gap. The conference concluded with a question and answer session, which will give you the opportunity to put your thoughts to our speakers.
