A woman whose fiancee died after undergoing a routine operation has instructed lawyers to look into a claim against the health trust involved.
Professor Bren Neale has taken the action after losing her partner John Hubley in January last year.
The 58-year-old university lecturer went into Eccleshill Independent Sector Treatment Centre in Bradford to have his gall bladder removed.
During a recent inquest it was revealed that a number of problems contributed to him losing his life.
For example, the treatment centre did not have its own store of blood and blood products so they had to be transported from Bradford and Leeds and then heated up in buckets of hot water.
In addition, there was a lack of swabs, sutures and ultrasound technology, which made it difficult to switch the operation from keyhole to open surgery in order to repair an injured vein.
Professor Neale is taking action against Leeds Primary Care Trust, which was founded just over two years ago.
