A trial is set to determine whether a 53-year-old woman will secure a payout after she was seriously injured in an accident involving a car.
Lynn Graham suffered a broken neck, punctured lung, fractured pelvis, three broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder when she was struck by a motorist in Minchinhampton Common, a recreation area for walkers and golfers, the Gloucester Citizen reports.
She was riding on her horse Friendly - which died on the scene - when she was hit.
During a recent hearing, the motorist involved in the crash was awarded a temporary driving ban and was fined £500. He was said to have been speeding and talking on his mobile phone when he collided with the horse.
Separate civil proceedings will determine any payout Ms Graham receives.
After the trial, she said: "He has taken my life away and my good horse."
