Mother discusses sex discrimination tribunal success

A mother has talked about the success she enjoyed when she took her employers to tribunal over allegations of sex discrimination.
Sarah Vince-Cain worked as a senior manager at the Giorgio Armani group - which has a history dating back to 1974.
After she returned to her role following a period of maternity leave, she claims her responsibilities were eroded and, rather than performing her official role of regional manager for all stores outside London, she was "little more than a store manager of the smallest store of the company", she recently told the Times.
A few months later, she was told she was being made redundant.
Ms Vince-Cain took her case to a hearing, at which she was awarded a payout of around £120,000 for unfair dismissal and sex discrimination.
The 39-year-old said: "The compensation was what I would have earned anyway; it's the vindication I received from the court that matters."
