A group of injured soldiers may be in line to secure shares of a seven-figure compensation sum, it has emerged.
According to a Sky News report, the legal team acting on behalf of the service personnel have confirmed that the individuals could win more than £500,000 each from the Ministry of Defence.
The deal, details of which may not be agreed on for up to two years, will be decided in an out-of-court settlement.
It was announced during the opening day of the resumed inquest into the death of Corporal Mark Wright, who lost his life while attempting to save colleagues who were trapped in a minefield.
Three of his fellow soldiers suffered the loss of limbs in the incident, which occurred near the village of Kajaki - an area situated in the southern Afghani province of Helmand.
The money they will receive will be used, in part, to finance state-of-the-art prosthetic limbs.
