Companies have been advised to review their health and safety policy and training records in order to ensure they are complying with the new corporate manslaughter legislation introduced this month.
According to the British Red Cross, firms should look at how many first aiders are required and ensure they have suitable first aid cover by conducting an assessment, Medical News Today reports.
The charity goes on to state that such an assessment should cover any hazardous areas that exist in the work environment, the number of staff employed, where staff are located and past accident rates.
Under the new laws, if a workplace fatality occurs, the emphasis is placed on organisations to prove that effective health and safety polices exist and are clearly and competently communicated.
A volunteer-led organisation, the British Red Cross aims to help people in crisis.
