A company has paid out compensation of £140,000 after an incident in which one of its employees was injured.
Trinity Mirror accepted 85 per cent liability for the accident and has since gone on to review its health and safety protocol, the Workplace Law Network reports.
The event involved a 58-year-old worker who was operating on a machine with which he was unfamiliar. He had not been given a safety briefing prior to using it.
Kenneth Blair was knocked off a ladder by an automated guided battery forklift truck as he attempted to fix a problem.
He fell to floor and suffered a broken wrist, which required him to have three operations.
Mr Blair has now retired from the printing industry following medical advice. He had worked for Trinity Mirror for 18 years prior to the accident.
Employing more than 8,000 members of staff, Trinity Mirror is a newspaper publisher with a portfolio of over 350 titles.
