Father of 11-yr old thief ordered to pay compensation

The father of a boy who broke into cars in Blackburn area has been ordered to pay compensation to his son's victims.
The boy, now aged eleven, stole property from three vehicles, which belonged to blood donors who were parking in a private yard, stealing a number of items including a stereo, a bag and a motorcycle helmet.
He also damaged a number of other vintage vehicles in the same area with a hammer, according a report from thisislancashire.com.
His father was ordered to pay compensation to the injured parties including £100 towards repairing damage to the £1,000 worth of restoration work that the vehicles now require.
He was also told to pay £50 towards the cost of a smashed window and stolen hair straighteners, and further payments to others whose property had been taken.
The compensation payments are to come out of the man's state benefits.
