An employer has been handed a fine of £7,500 following two separate incidents in which workers sustained injuries.
Rehau - a polymer solutions firm which employs over 15,000 people in locations around the world - was also ordered to pay costs of £3,340 during a hearing at Holyhead magistrates' court during which it pleaded guilty to breaching health and safety laws.
The accidents, which both occurred in 2006, saw employees Geraint Jones and Susan Jones suffer lacerations to their hands.
In addition, Ms Jones also received fractures to both of her hands.
It was found that the machines used by the staff members were lacking in appropriate safety equipment.
Commenting on the case, Health and Safety Executive inspector David Wynne said: "Our investigation showed that one machine did not have any physical guarding and the other machine was being operated without adequate safety devices."
