Police are waiting to question the driver of a National Express coach that crashed on Newport Pagnell motorway services slip road on Monday.
The 34-year-old, who had to be cut free from behind the wheel of the vehicle and suffered serious injuries, has been arrested under suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving.
Travelling from Birmingham to Stansted and Luton airports, the 777 overturned after it had clipped a curb and hit a lamppost and tree.
Six of the 34 passengers on board the coach sustained serious injuries in the crash.
Chief executive of National Express, Richard Bowker told Radio Four's Today Programme that the company was "obsessed" with safety.
He added: "To be even considered to drive for National Express you have to pass very rigorous tests and the recruitment test, particularly around drugs and alcohol, is very tough."
The coach firm was also involved in an accident in January, when three people died following a crash on an M4 slip road.
