A divorced wife has missed out as a massive divorce settlement after her ex-husband made £929 million on the stock exchange.
Mike Ashley's windfall came after he floated his Sports Direct International chain on the stock exchange and raked in a sum said to be the largest-ever cash fortune that an individual has made on a single day.
However, Linda Ashley, 40, had been married to millionaire Mike Ashley for 14 years until 2003, when they divorced leaving her with a relatively small settlement of £50 million.
Speaking about her ex-husband, who has been dubbed the Chav King of the high street for the downmarket goods he sells, Linda told the Daily Express: "If he spent £2,000 on an Armani suit he would still look scruffy."
Mr Ashley's empire, of which he retains a share, includes rucksack and camping goods manufacturer Karrimor, London's marquee sports store Lilywhites and sports brands Lonsdale, Slazenger and Donnay.
