The family of a solicitor who died in a motorway accident have been awarded compensation in the High Court.
The accident occurred when Michael Daly was a passenger while his wife Claire was driving the family car on the M27 in 2002.
Disaster struck at a contraflow system when Mr Daly and one of his daughters were killed, with Mrs Daly ajudged in court to have been wholly responsible.
Mr Justice Treacy ordered that an undisclosed sum, which is estimated to run to six figures, be paid to Mrs Daly and the two surviving children by Mrs Daly's motor insurance provider.
The couple's children Daniel and Sophie, who are aged eight and ten respectively, will also be awarded an as-yet-undecided amount of compensation for their injuries.
In an earlier ruling in 2005, Mrs Daly's claim that the accident had been the fault of a passing lorry driver had been rejected by Judge Nigel Wilkinson QC.
