Kate Winslet has agreed to a damages settlement from a magazine that had alleged she had seen a specialist doctor about a diet.
Ms Winslet, 31, won the settlement and an apology after Grazia magazine ran a story that she had visited the Chinese Healing Institute in California to help her lose weight.
The Oscar-nominated actress, who has been vehement in her criticism of pressures on actresses to stay thin, claimed she had gone to see the doctor about a neck complaint.
Rachel Atkins, Ms Winslet's lawyer, said that the article had damaged her reputation because it gave the impression that she was a hypocrite.
In a statement released by her solicitors, Ms Winslet said: "Grazia magazine have apologised to me in full, and admitted that their story was incorrect, which gives me tremendous peace of mind."
"I feel very strongly that 'curves' are natural, womanly and real. I shall continue to hope that women are able to believe in themselves for who they are inside, and not feel under such incredible pressure to be unnaturally thin,” she added.
Grazia have also agreed to pay costs, while the damages will take the form of a donation to an eating disorder charity.
