A disabled man has won the right to pursue his claim of clinical negligence against the hospital that delivered him, it has been revealed.
Jonathon Khairule was born at Tameside General Hospital in Ashton-under-Lyne and suffers from cerebral palsy, a physical condition that affects the movement of its sufferers.
The 27-year-old is wheelchair-bound and types on a keyboard with his nose in order to communicate, the Coventry Telegraph reports.
In a recent development, the high court has ruled that Mr Khairule can pursue his birth injury claim, despite the fact that he did not initiate legal proceedings within the normal time limit set in such cases.
He stated: "It wasn't until I was in my early 20s that I started to do some investigating. I did not know if I would be able to claim compensation, I just wanted answers."
