Experience Overview

Neil is the Chief Executive of Russell Jones & Walker (part of Slater & Gordon Lawyers). He is responsible for the running of the firm and the setting and delivery of its strategy to ensure it remains a market leader in personal law and litigation. He is currently focused on how best to capitalise on the opportunities that will be created by the legislative changes that are reshaping the legal market.

He is a leading and respected member of the legal community and has driven the firm into a new era of working, challenging the more traditional work methods by embracing technological advances to ensure that the firms’ clients receive outstanding service in the ways which suit them best.

Neil is regularly asked to comment in the media, in government forums and in working groups on many topics, especially those surrounding the future of the legal profession and  industry issues such as the benefits of Alternative Business Structures. He is at the forefront of developing new ways of providing affordable, accessible legal services particularly with the government's aims of reducing the availability of legal aid.

He was recognised for his achievements by twice being featured in The Lawyer Magazine’s ‘Hot 100’ in 2004 and 2008. His leadership and direction was also evident when the firm won National Law Firm of the Year in 2009.

His forward thinking was pivotal in the acquisition of ‘Claims Direct’, changing the way in which the brand was perceived, turning it into the ethical and reputable market leader it is today.

Prior to being appointed as the Chief Executive in 2002 Neil specialised in Personal Injury and Sports Law concluding numerous multi-million pound settlements. He qualified in 1983 and became a Partner in Pannone Napier in 1986 before joining Russell Jones & Walker in 1991.
