Experience Overview

Geoff is the Chief Finance Officer, UK of Russell Jones and Walker (part of Slater & Gordon Lawyers) and is based in the London office. He is responsible for monitoring the daily financial performance and operations of the firm, as well as directing the development, design and improvement of the systems that support the delivery of the firm’s services.
Together with the firm’s Chief Executive, Neil Kinsella, he is also closely involved in developing the longer term goals and strategy of the firm.

Geoff is a qualified Chartered Accountant with 10 years experience in professional practice, working for “Big 4” accountancy firms. Since leaving professional practice he has spent in excess of 10 years working for large law firms in Australia and the UK. He is well versed in all aspects of the financial management of large law firms, focusing on building solid operating performance tied into the strategic objectives/goals of the firm.

Just prior to graduating from university, Geoff commenced his career as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young in Sydney, prior to joining another “Big 4” accountancy firm, KPMG. During this time he was responsible for providing audit, tax and financial accounting services to clients in a wide range of industries ranging from telecommunications, software development, law firms, barristers, manufacturing, community clubs and subsidiaries of multi-national companies.
In 1997, Geoff left the accountancy profession to take up a position as Finance Manager with one of Australia’s largest law firms, Allens Arthur Robinson. He spent 5 years with AAR overseeing the tax, treasury and financial management of a complicated local and international entity structure.
In 2002 he left behind the sunshine and beaches of Sydney and moved to the UK where he has held senior finance positions with 2 other Top 20 UK law firms, prior to joining Russell Jones & Walker as their Finance Director in 2006. Since that time, his role has gradually broadened to involve taking overall responsibility for the day to day operations of the firm in the capacity as Chief Finance Officer, UK.
