Experience Overview

Craig McAdam is a business crime Principal Lawyer (Partner) in the Manchester office of the Business Crime & Regulation department. He specialises in representing and advising individuals and businesses in regulatory and criminal investigations and prosecutions.

He is a specialist in white collar crime and his experience includes fraud, money laundering, health & safety and environment agency investigations. Cases include multimillion Serious Fraud Office (SFO), Office of Fair Trading (OFT), HM Revenue & Customs and Financial Services Authority (FSA) investigations, from pre-raid through to acquittal or mitigation at court.

Prior to joining Russell Jones & Walker in 2009, Craig developed significant experience in internal corporate investigations at a commercial law firm. Expertise includes the representation of large utility companies in environmental prosecutions and investigations for breaches of environmental permits and pollution incidents.

Craig has continued this work at the firm, advising at all stages of health and safety and environment agency investigations, including fatality cases in construction and factory settings. Clients include corporate entities, directors and individual employees.

Craig has wide experience in providing practical and preventative advice through seminars and workshops on a variety of regulatory topics including investigation training, data protection, money laundering and corporate manslaughter. He also holds experience in drafting compliance policies for these areas.

Craig is a Committee member of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), Occupational Safety and Health Network Yorkshire Region (HLSA), Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), the Health and Safety Lawyers Association (HSLA) and the North West Fraud Forum.

Craig gained a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne before achieving a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from Leeds Metropolitan University. He qualified in 2002.
