Experience Overview
Alan Samuels is a Business Crime Senior Solicitor and head of the Business Crime & Regulation Department at Russell Jones & Walker's Newcastle office.
His main areas of expertise are criminal litigation, both defence and prosecution, and he is an expert Professional Discipline Solicitor in police misconduct cases. In addition, Alan undertakes prosecutions on behalf of HSE investigations in the North East.
Alan has been an Accredited Police Station Representative since 2000 and qualified as a solicitor in 2001. He is an experienced Duty Solicitor and a member of the Law Society’s Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme.
He is regularly instructed by the Police Federation of England & Wales to represent police officers in criminal and professional discipline investigations, misconduct hearings, public inquiries & inquests, and at Court.

Alan joined Russell Jones & Walker in 2006. He has previously worked as a criminal defence specialist for firms in Sussex and London. Alan studied Law at Middlesex University obtaining a 2:1and he passed the Legal Practice Course with Distinction, winning an award for Advocacy.
