Registration of a number of properties which had unregistered titles
08 May 2008
Community amalgamated with a number of other Unions in the Midlands who were involved in the textiles trade. We were instructed to deal with the first registration of a number of properties which had unregistered titles and which had been bought in the 1920'sand 1930's. This involved extensive research involving the records of the amalgamated Unions and also assisting the Land Registry in producing good title to the properties. At one stage a statutory declaration needed to be sworn where the exhibit was a history of the relevant Trade Union involved. All the titles were subsequently registered with absolute title. On a related point we have also been instructed by the TUC to advise on the implications for Trade Unions on changes proposed by the Land Registry in respect of complusory registration of unregistered land where there is a change of trustees.
