A national newspaper had threatened to publish a story and photographs of a Special Constable in West Midlands Police, after she sold a mobile phone but had failed to delete private photographs which were stored on it.

Misuse of private information claim brought against the BBC

A misuse of private information case was pursued by Jeremy Clarke-Williams after our client was filmed by the BBC as he walked towards Wolverhampton Crown Court where he was the Bailiff. The film clip was then used in two Midlands Today News broadcasts to illustrate a report about the trial of a surgeon accused of indecently assaulting 5 boys.

Misuse of officer’s private information

This female police officer had undergone cosmetic surgery, a fact which she had confidentially informed to the occupation health department. This was disclosed without her knowledge or consent to HR and then to fellow officers in her unit.
