Female paid less than male in same job
8 February 2010
Our client, a senior employee in the public sector, was paid almost 20% less than a male colleague doing the same job as her. The difference in pay stemmed from a historical decision as to starting salary. At the time of recruitment, the male employee had argued for more money, but our client had accepted the employer's proposed salary. We assisted our client to bring a grievance and the employer accepted that this was unfair. Our client's pay was increased and she was awarded five years of back pay.
