£20,000 Payment After Elderly Man Suffers Unnecessarily Due to Errors in A & E

6 May 2011

After an elderly man noticed a black dot in his right eye he attended A & E and was diagnosed with a macula haemorrhage.  He was advised that he would be referred to his local hospital however over the next few days his vision deteriorated dramatically. After consulting his GP he was informed that he would be sent an appointment and be seen within four weeks.  In fact, he was not seen for a further 20 weeks by which time his right eye had suffered serious damage which required surgery and laser treatment to repair.

An admission of liability of clinical negligence was made by the defendant and after negotiations our expert clinical negligence solicitors recovered our client a settlement of £20,000.
