Subarachnoid Haemorrhage
Subarachnoid haemorrhage is a form of stroke involving bleeding into an area of the brain. It can be caused by blood vessels in the brain leaking.
Symptoms include:
• a sudden and severe headache
• neck stiffness
• confusion
• reduced consciousness
• weakness in one side of the body
• seizures
We have successfully handled compensation claims for medical negligence where early warning signs have been ignored by doctors.
The condition should be investigated by a CT scan and sometimes lumbar punctures. Treatment involves surgery (to coil or clip the leak) or sometimes other radiological guided procedures. The aim of treatment is to prevent the condition worsening before it causes serious disability.
These claims are complex. We have particular expertise and experience in dealing with these claims for compensation. It is particularly important that you ensure that your lawyers are specialist, that they understand the legal and medical issues arising from brain injuries and that they can provide you with the support you need.
