Inquests

Experts in Inquests

An inquest is a legal inquiry into the cause and circumstances of a death acting as a fact finding process. They are held whenever a death is unusual or unexplained. This could be if the cause of death is still uncertain after a post-mortem or if the death is unnatural or violent, sudden or unexplained or took place in police custody or prison.

Relatives or the personal representatives of the deceased (often referred to as properly interested parties) can attend inquests and have the opportunity to question witnesses. We understand that this can be an extremely difficult and highly distressing time. We can provide practical legal advice to our clients combined with sensitivity at all times. We can lead you from start to finish through the process and can assist with:

  • Fully establishing and understanding the background of an inquest
  • Obtaining medical records and documents
  • Questioning of key witnesses, such as doctors or nurses
  • Providing representation at the inquest
