Woman supports employment tribunal compensation call

A woman has spoken out in support of a campaign to make firms pay up when they lose employment tribunals to workers.
Charlene Yates, who was herself successful in a claim after being illegally sacked by text message in 2005 from her role as a manager at Veronica, is backing Keighley MP Ann Cryer's call, the Keighley News reports.
The politician wants the Ministry of Justice - which is one of the largest government departments and employs around 95,000 people, operating with a budget of £9.2 billion - to include a mechanism for the enforcement of awards.
She wants the move to be included in the new courts and tribunals bill.
Ms Yates commented: "People have already been treated unfairly when they go to a tribunal but then they find they might not get the money - it seems a farce."
She was awarded £6,800 as a result of the legal action she took and is awaiting payment.
