Teenager claims £3m in compensation after road accident

27 August 2010

A teenager injured during a road traffic accident is to claim up to £3 million in compensation for his ordeal.

According to the Bury Free Press, Ben Woodham is seeking the damages from Bury St Edmonds-based coach travel firm Turners of Great Barton following an incident in October 2007 which left him paralysed.

Mr Woodham's High Court writ states that he was travelling along the A143 road on his motor scooter when he was hit by one of the company's mini coaches, which was driven across a stationary tractor and trailer by Sarah Turner, the news source goes on to state.

The collision involved Mr Woodham hitting the windscreen of the vehicle, leaving him with a head injury and a fractured spine - which has caused him to be paralysed from the chest down.

His claim for compensation includes damages for pain and suffering, lost earnings and care and assistance.
