NHS to pay £550k in compensation after wills scam

The NHS is to award over half a million pounds in compensation to the families of deceased people who fell victim to one of its employees' ploy to steal money from their wills.
Yvette Adams was imprisoned for five years earlier this year after she was found guilty of fraudulently obtaining more than three quarters of a million pounds from the wills of patients during a seven-year period between 2002 and 2009 at a hospital in the Midlands city.
During a trial at Leicester Crown Court, Ms Adams had £225,000 worth of goods confiscated in order to pay towards the damages being awarded to the eight affected families.
However, the outstanding sum of around £550,000 will be paid by the NHS Litigation Authority, the body which handles claims of negligence against the country's health care service and aims to improve risk management practices within the organisation in order to increase its efficency.
