Author seeking libel compensation from Amazon

11 November 2011

Compensation on the grounds of libel is being sought by an author after a man posted a review of his book on Amazon.

Self-published writer Chris McGrath wrote The Attempted Murder of God: Hidden Science You Really Need to Know and claims that Vaughan Williams posted damning reviews of it on the website in October 2010.

In addition, Mr McGrath is also seeking damages from online retailer Amazon - the UK arm of which was established in 1998 - and the Richard Dawkins Foundation, which published a piece about his book by Mr Williams on its website.

The content of both the reviews and the piece are no longer available as they were removed as soon as legal proceedings got underway.

Mr Jones declined to comment on the High Court case when contacted by the Independent on the advice of his legal representatives, but admitted it is a "very stressful time".
